Ciao a tutti,

vi chiedo un consiglio per questa finestra di errore che compare spesso (in allegato):

Ho seguito quanto indicato, e i risultati sono:

In realta' non riscontro nessun problema nella gestione della tastiera, tutti i tasti sono correttamente riconosciuti: gia' nella fase di installazione Calamares aveva visualizzato il corretto layout di essa. Inoltre quando compare (anche piu' volte) la finestra di errore tutto continua a funzionare senza errori (tastiera, finestre, mouse, ecc.). Diciamo che, se non e' nulla di piu' 'serio', l'unica seccatura e' chiudere le finestre di errore: sarei pero' curioso di saperne l'origine, e se posso/devo fare qualcosa o semplicemente ignorarle. Come indicato nelle stringhe, il pc e' un Asus eeepc-1015PEM (che peraltro confermo funzionare a meraviglia con Siena: ieri ho configurato due stampanti, una vecchia Epson Stylus SX440W e una HP Laserjet Pro MFP M125nw: scontato che funzionassero come stampanti, ma anche i due scanner sono stati riconosciuti e funzionanti (meno scontanto, su linux... con il precendente LMDE2 non ci ero riuscito...).

ho provato la Siena su un netbook come il tuo e l'errore non mi appare. Hai per caso cambiato la configurazione della tastiera dopo l'installazione del sistema?
Puoi provare a sistemarla con sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

no, dopo l'installazione non ho effettuato nessuna riconfigurazione della tastiera: durante l'installazione Calamares aveva visualizzato il layout corretto, che avevo confermato.
Ho eseguito il comando di riconfigurazione che mi hai consigliato: la tastiera gia' configurata era la Generica 105 tasti intnl, che ho confermato (c'era anche la Asusu laptop, ma se non ricordo male durante le prove con Siena in live, prima dell'installazione, questa tastiera ha il tastierino numerico separato). L'errore in verita' e' saltuario (ad es., stamani, accendendo il netbook, l'ha ridato di nuovo, prima della riconfigurazione) e, come ti accennavo nel preedente mess, la tastiera funziona perfettamente, anche nei tasti meno comuni.

Grazie, come sempre, per il supporto, se ritieni sufficiente la procedura indicata puoi anche chiudere il tread, eventualmente l'ho riapro se ci fossero altre novita' o particolari.

se dopo aver dato il comando e riconfigurato la tastiera hai risolto ok, diversamente vedendo che:

_XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "evdev", "", "it", "", ""
_XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "it", "", ""

potresti provare ad inserire nella prima stringa pc105 stando attento alle virgolette e virgole e provare a salvare ma dovresti capire se la tua tastiera è una pc105.

Se dovessi avere ancora problemi puoi pensare di eseguire un aggiornamento del sistema anche mediante l'icona con lo scudo in basso a destra, alcuni potrebbero aver risolto cosi (tieni presente che una debian di base) poichè nel caso potrebbe essere legato ad un baco di qualche libreria che viene resa disponibile dai repository principali di debian.

In ultimo se ancora non dovessi risolvere puoi provare, dopo aver fatto un backup del file xorg.conf, a rieditardo cambiando da xfree a xorg nella stringa "XKB Rules" "xfree" che deve diventare "XKB Rules" "xorg"

in effetti il problema principale e' capire che tastiera e': pc105, se fosse riferito ai tasti fisici, non e' (ne ha 84). Ho provato ad installare hardinfo per vedere se dava qualche dettaglio in piu': il risultato e' che la indica come 'AT Translated set 2 keyboard', che mi pare un po' generico (ma forse sbaglio).

Ho provato l'aggiornamento del sistema (dallo scudo): in realta' stamani non segnalava aggiornamenti, oggi cambiando un'impostazione (ho deselezionato aggiornamenti solo di kernel e sicurezza: dovrebbe cosi' proporne altri per singoli pacchetti...) ha aggiornato xapps-common 2.2.4+debbie.

Probabilmente, come anche tu proponi, potrebbe essere un baco in qualche libreria, considerato che la tastiera e' perfettamente riconosciuta: se volessi editare la stringa _XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "evdev", "", "it", "", "" modificandola in _XKB_RULES_NAMES_BACKUP(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "it", "", "" , considerato che pc105 funziona, lo dovrei fare comunque dall'esito del comando in terminale? Non e' solo in lettura. Potrei aspettare per vedere se l'errore viene ancora posto, da stamani il pc e' sempre acceso, sembrerebbe che avvenga all'accensione.

Saluti, e ovviamente grazie per tutti i consigli: pur avendo linux da tanto, raramente sono entrato nel sistema...

innanzi tutto confermo che il messaggio di errore viene dato solo alla accensione del pc: chiusa la finestra di errore tutto funziona regolarmente, compresa la tastiera, e non viene piu' posto nessun messaggio durante la sessione.

Ho un problema per il file xorg.conf, un po' paradossale, sicuramente dovuto alla mia inesperienza: non lo trovo. Pensavo fosse in etc/x11/, ma li' c'e' solo una cartella xorg.conf.d con un file 00-keyboard.conf: al suo interno le stringhe

Ho cercato xorg.conf dal terminale:

La cartella gvfs e' vuota (o non mi mostra il contenuto: ma entro con la mia password da amministratore).
L'xorg.conf della cartella xserver-xorg-video-intel, se il nome non e' casuale, non dovrebbe entrarci nulla con gli input:

Per ora e' tutto: diciamo che e' piu' la curiosita' che l'importanza dell'errore, che apparentemente non pregiudica nulla nel funzionamento.

quando ti si è presentato l'errore hai provato a vedere con dmesg tramite terminale se vi è un qualsiasi messaggio di errore o di avviso?

collegati al pc c'e' un mouse usb, ovviamente la rete, una scheda di memoria microsd nel suo slot dedicato, una cuffia stereo esterna connessa allo jack audio. Tutto funziona perfettamente.

intanto esiste un problema relativo ad un bug segnalato da Debian per cui quello potrebbe essere una delle cause.
A parte questo tu dovresti avere un mousepad quindi potresti installare quel driver. dovresti vedere le specifiche del produttore del tuo mousepad e digitare nel campo "ricerca" del menu il driver relativo esempio driver produttore ecc. dovrebbe proporti uno o più driver che puoi installare visivamente. Adesso il touchpad potrebbe funzionarti ma con driver generico per cui andrebbe eseguita quell'operazione.

poi vedo anche questo ASUS WMI Driver relativamente ad un altro driver che probabilmente non è più disponibile poichè incluso con vecchio kernel, quel driver serve per usare gli hot key ed anche per lo screenpad trovi qui le istruzioni https://github.com/Plippo/asus-wmi-screenpad

per il touchpad potresti andare di:
apt install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
ma se non funziona al riavvio puoi sempre rimuoverlo con:
sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

per cui io inizierei prima da questo per poi vedere se il problema rientra o meno e nel caso proseguire con le altre prove.
